As a visual artist inspired by a lifetime of travel and personal experience, I began a new creative chapter in 2010, setting out to write Malama Island — a story shaped by imagination and the world I've lived in. My fascination with volcanic islands drew me first to Iceland, where I explored the raw beauty of its landscapes, and then to Hawaii, where that sense of wonder deepened. Both journeys found their way into my visual art long before they found their way onto the page. Rooted in my studies of life sciences and art, and driven by an enduring love for the ocean, Malama Island is the fullest expression of everything that has shaped me as an artist.
